Goals:

• The participants will put on a performance about the stories of characters from different time periods that will describe the varying time periods that the hill has been through and how each one left its mark.
• The participants will study the findings from different time periods of Jerusalem that are displayed on the Instagram story page of the hill.

We’ll ask the participants to line up according to their birth dates. Then we will ask the oldest participant to put his hand on the table/floor. Then the participant after him will do so, and so on. We will then explain that in this task we showed what a hill looks like and we’ll show a picture in order to demonstrate. The ancient layers are found below, and the newer ones above.

The task is to present the time period that is described by the story on the card.

Every participant who finishes with a time period lies on the floor or lays his hat on the floor. The participant describing the next time period places his hat/himself on the “previous time period”. The end result: A pile of children/hats piled up like an archaeological hill!

We will show the participants the cards that talk about the different time periods of Jerusalem that are displayed on an Instagram page.

Task 1:

You are now archaeologists and these pages document the different findings that were found in Jerusalem – you need to sort the pictures from the bottom upwards, like an archaeological hill.

Task 2:

What do these findings teach us about the daily life of the people living there and what can we learn about them.

What was interesting in the story that was told? Do you think that a hill can have a story? How do we discover the hill’s story? Are we like an archaeological hill?

It’s also possible to take the discussion to the direction of the meaning of the destruction, the connection and meaning nowadays.

We learned about how a hill is created and how Jerusalem is made up of many layers that contain both general history and history of the Jewish people.
